Releasing Your Game for Free
Now that we've gone over what game publishing can be like, let's finish this course off by releasing our creation into the world. First, we must decide on a digital marketplace for our game. Itch.io is an indie-driven site where anyone can publish their game in just minutes. For that reason, we're going to do this with Itch.io, so releasing your game will be quick and painless.
Itch.io
Itch.io is a great place for beginning developers.
Itch.io is a fantastic site for many starting developers because your game doesn't even need to be finished when you release it. Using Itch.io is also completely free. You can use Itch.io to get feedback from your players if you wish to test out prototypes or share free demos. It doesn't have a lot of value in terms of selling your game, but there are many other places for that purpose. It's also easy to use - releasing your game only takes minutes.
Creating an Account
To publish your game here, you first need to make an account. Click "Register" on the top-right corner of the main page to get started. Afterwards, just fill in your information and
that's that. You will get a confirmation email, and after that you can now release your game on Itch.io.
Well Done!
The Jump Guy page is now officially listed on Itch.io, and you can say that you've published your first game prototype. Your game developer journey has officially begun!
