'Use Secure Passwords'

Passwords and backups help you keep your data safe from external threats, and software of hardware failures. Secure passwords keep unwanted parties from having access to your information, as weak password could be easy to guess or brute-force through. If someone does gain use to your files, locks them up, and demands a ransom, you having a backup means that you won't lose all your files. More likely some hardware failure, corrupted hard drives, or even a fire or a flood may cause damage to your files than an external attack.

Password Do's and Dont's

It is not difficult to create a strong password that is not only hard to guess but hard to break by the offensive tools. Here are some tips.

Do's

  • At least 8 characters, including capitals, numbers, symbols
  • A meaningless combination that is hard to guess
  • Use different passwords for different accounts

Don'ts

  • Easy to guess word or phrases

  • Password is personal, do not share it with anyone.
