Product: Share your findings in an audio or video recording of approximately 15 minutes.
Peer review: Comment on others’ interviews.
INSTRUCTIONS
Have you ever wondered what it is like to work in your field? This is your chance to get out there and find out for yourself!
Here are your instructions:
1
Find someone from your field of work for an interview.
2
Contact the person using your preferred means of communication (e.g., phone, LinkedIn, email, social media) to make arrangements for the interview in English. Share your conversation and/or your strategies to the course forum.
Tip: Should you choose to interview the person in writing, you can take a screenshot of the written conversation if you receive the interviewee’s permission. Do let them know the context and purpose of your interview. Check if audio/video recording is allowed.
3
Conduct the interview and edit the recording before uploading the final product to the study platform (Edukamu) under Your name_Assignment 1. Don’t forget to thank the interviewee personally.
4
Peer review: With your peer, watch/listen to other interviews in the same field and comment on the useful language and communication strategies used. What do you find interesting/intriguing/surprising? What questions do you yourself want to ask the interviewee about them/their work?
How to find someone to interview?
- Use LinkedIn to search, find and approach people working in your field.
- Use the KAMK alumni network
- Use your own personal/social/professional networks
- Ask your peers/teacher for help (last resource!)
Prepare an interview scheme with a list of open ended questions and pilot with a friend before the actual interview.
